SQ3R-Central Africa Today

Countries in Central Africa has been very poor, and low in economy. Professionals such as doctors and teachers had leftthe country. The ethnic groups had fought each other, leaving the country high in poverty. In The Democratic Republic of Congo, people usually live in rural areas where they farm and trade for food. Although they have a lot of gold, diamonds, and cobalt, they are still a poor country. In Cameroon however, people have a high standard of living. Guinea and Sao Tome living conditions are still poor, even though they had a recent discovery of oil they need to import for food. In Gabon, people get provided a high standard of living. They were doing good in the economy, until the civil war hit, which impacted their economy in a very negative way. In Angola however, 85% of the people there do subsistence farming for a living. One of the reasons why these countries are poor is because the corrupt officials have taken large amounts of money from the countries. Zambia and Malawi have a slow growing economy. People whom had been injured, or hurt could no longer work. The main killer in Central Africa is Malaria. Every 30 seconds, a child dies from malaria. Another main killer is HIV AIDS. About 50% of the people below age 15 hads been affected by it. Food production, agricultural land, healthcare, and many others need to be improved in order to keep the country healthy, and low in poverty.
