SQ3R- History & Culture of Central Africa

Central African countries had been influenced by European kingdoms, changing their way of life. People had begun to migrate to Central Africa, establishing several kingdoms. One of the most important kingdom was the Kongo Kingdom. This kingdom had grown rich of animals skins, shells, slaves, and ivory. The European used resources such as ivory, to make jewelery, statues, and piano keys. Some countries has become richer because of the Europeans, but later weakened by the European influence. They had divided Central Africa into colonies. They hadn't known that doing this would have changed the people. There were many Ethic groups, and many different beliefs. Putting them all together caused conflict because they had different customs, and languages. Central Africa had gained independence after world war 2. But later, this didn't solve the ethnic groups to stop conflict. They had continued to fight with one another within the borders.

Central Africa had been also greatly influenced about culture. There were a variety of languages being spoken, but because of the influence, they had started speaking many European languages. Europeans had also brought Christianity to Africa. It is also the home of Hindu's and Muslims. Central Africa had its own traditional cultures, such as sculpture, wooden masks, and cotton gowns. It is also popular because of its music. All these changes from European countries had brought a tremendous amount of change to Central Africa.
